Visiting my Grandaughter Maya, April 2007
I visited Maya and her dad (my son), Marc, in Iqaluit. Maya and went to the playground. A true northern kid doesn't let snow and a snowsuit interfere with fun at the playground!
Marc and Maya spend a lot of time together. She loves her "Tatta" (father). On the left, Marc is carrying Maya in an adaptation of an amautik - the traditional Inuit carrying parka. On the right, Marc and Maya color Easter eggs.
Marc and Maya pose with Iqaluit across the bay in the background. (It's not really visible, but the town is there!)
Maya shows off her Dora pajamas her great gran sent to her for Christmas (left) and the beautiful red bowling shoes great gran sent to her for her birthday. While I was in Iqaluit, I took Maya to play group 3 times - her red shoes were great for running around and climbing!
Marc made a tunnel for Maya by digging a hole through a snowdrift - she loved her "house" until the next wind filled it in with snow again.
